It’s been a while, so I will just touch on some things that have been awesome the past month-ish. The weather has been consistently between 15 and 20 degree’s Celsius, and it’s fantastic! Everything is super green and gorgeous, and it makes me sad that when its getting beautiful our time here is running out.
Conference was great, I ended up watching the Saturday session’s just online, and the two Sundays after Conference actually took place we had sacrament meeting and then watched a session of Conference.
In the mornings we get to go adventuring some, and it has been awesome to go down by the river, explore a crazy fortress, go to Andrevsky (souvenir) street, and anything else that catches our fancy.
A couple weekends ago we were able to go to Kreshatik (the city center) and watch a dance competition between two teams from two different cities in Ukraine with a couple girls from the other group and some of the local’s. It’s interesting to go to events where Ukrainians show emotions. It makes it more awesome because its so rare to see them excited in public. We also went on a picnic with that same group Sunday afternoon and played mafia using duck crackers.
Last weekend was spectacularness! Macall, Jamie, and I went to Kamianets for Easter Sunday. We took a sleeper train in at about 6:30 that morning, and had the whole day to explore. Kamianets is super adorable and gorgeous. The old town is built within and a top of canyons, and includes a princess castle with its own bridge and ruins that people are allowed to crawl all over. It was a great day! along with exploring the castle, we adopted a stray dog for the day, were taught by a cute old man how to work a water pump, and played on a bridge that looked like it was straight out of Shrek (without the pit of lava underneath).
We also had Monday off, so we went to Big Mama. She sits above the WWII museum on top of a hill. Its always crazy to see how much people really suffered, and how desensitized to the pain of others someone can get. It scares me to see the evil we are capable of when Satan gets a hold of our hearts.
This last Thursday we went to a celebration that is put on by the French embassy to celebrate French spring with a drum line and fireworks, it was a fun time!
Friday, Janelle and I went biking through the forest with our local friends Igor and Slava. Originally there were supposed to be more of us, but it ended up being just us. At first it was a little awkward, but it was so awesome to just get out of the city and do something active. Also, I admire the young adult members here so much. These young men are so strong and put up with so much as members. We have it so good in America !!
Well, that’s all for my update, so hope everyone’s lives are going swimmingly, and I will write more next week because at this very moment my group is headed to Crimea for vacation, woot woot!
LOVE!!!
